Rules & Regulations
The Crawford House is located in the Historic Neighborhood District of Hattiesburg, and to preserve the integrity of the neighborhood a number of guidelines have been adopted.
Wedding Ceremonies: The garden areas of The Crawford House can be used for wedding ceremonies but please keep in mind that the largest single room in the Crawford House will only seat up to 85 for a ceremony, because of this we ask that you have a contingency plan in case of inclement weather. The Crawford House staff is not available to coordinate or direct your wedding ceremony.
Service of Alcohol: The Crawford House does hold a beer and wine permit (hard liquor is not permitted on the premises). Please ask for a bar price list and a copy of our alcohol policy if you wish to serve alcohol at your event. You are not permitted to bring any alcoholic beverages into The Crawford House.
Security: For functions that exceed 150 guests and include the service of alcohol security officers are required. The security person or persons must be a Hattiesburg policeman or a Forrest County deputy. Each security person is paid $105.00 for a four-hour period.
Music: While there is an 85-decibel noise level restriction, this is reasonable enough to accommodate most musical groups. Because of space limitations inside the house, prior approval must be obtained before engaging a musical group. Musical groups scheduled to play on the grounds (under tents) are not allowed to move inside because of inclement weather. The Crawford House staff is not available to play your ceremony music.
Payment: An invoice will be calculated for your function when the final headcount is received (at least 5 days in advance). Payment in full for the function is required before the function begins. Functions will not begin until payment is received. We will gladly accept MasterCard, Visa, Personal Checks ($25.00 service fee on any returned checks) or Cash.
Illegal Activity: Any illegal activity including substance abuse, vandalism, disorderly conduct will be immediately reported the local authorities.
The following is a partial listing of special events The Crawford House is equipped to handle: weddings, wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, brides-maid luncheons, company seminars, executive dinners, employee parties, board meetings, holiday parties, class reunions, family reunions, etc.
The following are the rates for rental of The Crawford House & Gardens and sample reception menus. The Crawford House has an excellent in house catering staff and does not allow outside catering, we will be happy to work with you to customize a menu for your special occasion.
There is a four-hour maximum time period for receptions and a six -hour maximum for weddings & receptions including wedding photography sessions, decorating, and dressing. Hours must be consecutive. If additional time is required please check availability and rates. The facility rental fee is in addition to catering prices, we do not rent the facility only.
If you are planning an outdoor wedding at The Crawford House, you need to be aware that The Crawford House is located near two railway routes. While some guest of The Crawford House find the occasional passing of trains an on-going part of history, other guest may find the train whistles a distraction. Our study indicates that trains do have a timetable but only they know it.
